DuoXProx™ fibrosis assay
Tissue fibrosis, a pathological process characterized by excessive accumulation of scar tissue in the organs.
In the kidney, tissue fibrosis plays a critical role in various chronic kidney diseases development, including diabetic nephropathy, interstitial nephritis, and glomerulonephritis. When renal injuries occur, damaged kidney tissue is gradually replaced by an excessive extra-cellular matrix deposition, resulting in fibrosis. This process alters the structure and function of the kidneys leading to a loss function, and even the need for dialysis or kidney transplantation. Understanding renal fibrosis is crucial for the development of new therapeutic approaches aimed at slowing or preventing its progression in the context of kidney diseases.
Reconstituting the native cellular environment is essential to understand disease mechanisms in vitro. Our DuoXProx™ co-culture assay combines proximal tubular cells and renal fibroblasts in optimized medium within a single system, enabling the evaluation of fibrosis-related parameters while reproducing the cellular crosstalk driving pathological remodelling.
